Steam Game Review Sentiment Analysis

Overview

In the vast sea of digital gaming, understanding player feedback is paramount. The Steam Game Review Sentiment Analysis project dives deep into the oceans of text provided by gamers to surface with valuable insights into their experiences and sentiments. Utilizing cutting-edge Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning (ML) techniques, this initiative aims to decode the complex language of player satisfaction, preferences, and expectations.

Objectives

• Sentiment Analysis: Leverage NLP tools to analyze the sentiment of Steam game reviews, classifying them into positive, neutral, or negative sentiments.
• Data Aggregation: Compile and calculate average metrics (e.g., helpfulness ratings, hours played) to summarize game reviews’ overall sentiment.
• Predictive Insights: Apply ML algorithms to predict game success and identify key factors influencing player feedback.

Approach

The project begins with an automated data collection phase, scraping Steam for comprehensive game review datasets. Each review is then processed to extract sentiment scores and other relevant metrics, forming a rich dataset ready for analysis. From there, exploratory data analysis sheds light on initial patterns, followed by the application of sophisticated ML models to predict broader trends and outcomes.
